Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta 2012
Labor Day weekend is here and are a few off the beat path things to do in Atlanta! Don’t allow the weather to keep you in the house!
Dragon* Con- Probably one of the most finger-pointing events you will ever attend. Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe! Although this is a conference, there are some free activities including the Dragon*Con parade on Saturday at 10am!
While you are downtown there are several weatherproof attractions to hit! Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Imagine It Children’s Museum all are safe bets if you want to stay dry!
Sky High Balloon Festival at Callaway Gardens - Venture out an hour and a half to Pine Mountain, Georgia to the 14th Annual Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival. The weekend kicks off with the extraordinary Friday Night Balloon Glow and continues with balloon flights and tethered balloon rides, a classic car show, live music and, for the first time, a second Balloon Glow on Sunday night and a dramatic pyrotechnic skydiving demonstration by the U.S. Army Silver Wings!
The Decatur Book Festival- There is something for every member of the family! There will be a children’s parade both Saturday and Sunday. The event begins Friday and goes through Sunday. Make sure you bring cash and I.D. because there will be food and spirits sold.
Chick Fil A Kickoff Game Atlanta- Some of you are itching and ready for some college football. Chik-Fil-A’s Kickoff Game features 2 show downs. On Friday its Tennessee versus N.C. State and on Saturday Auburn versus Clemson! There are loads of events happening at the Georgia Dome and of freebies!
