Fernbank Museum: The Scoop on Poop!

Who knew that what we flush down the toilet would be an exhibit at a museum?  The Scoop on Poop is latest exhibit at Fernbank Museum of Natural Science. It’s an entire exhibit on feces better known as poop….. Gross perhaps, but very interesting with a little ewwws and giggling along the way.

This exhibit teaches that facts about feces, what it looks like from different animals, birds, and insects, and the frequency of it, its uses and resourcefulness. For instance, in Africa, feces are used to seal the roof of their homes.  Predators sometime use poo to track down their prey. Hippos use their tails as a wiper as it comes out….beware because there is a visual for that!

There are a few live creatures in the exhibit and interactive stations.  My daughters love pushing buttons first and then find out what the buttons are for.  There is also games staged throughout to test your knowledge of poop! There are actual pieces of poop that you can hold, but no worries, you can’t smell or feel the actual texture, the poop is sealed and glazed.

At the end of the exhibit is a gift shop totally dedicated to POOP….something to never forget this exhibit!

There is still another 2 weeks left to catch the exhibit, so you really don’t want to miss it! You will leave with an appreciation for poop!

The stuff you need to know before you go……
